A woman who was granted bail after being charged with manslaughter and criminal negligence in relation to the 2023 death of a three-month-old boy is back in custody facing more charges.
The woman, who has not been named due to a publication ban, was released on conditions with the consent of the Crown on Jan. 16.
Court records show that she did not appear in Regina Provincial Court on Jan. 30, as scheduled.

Documents show an arrest warrant was not issued on that date, but was held and issued on Feb. 3.
The woman appeared in court three days later on Feb. 6, by phone from custody, documents show.
She faces new charges, which documents indicate were read to her at that time.
She is charged that on Feb. 3, she failed to attend court, as required by her release order.
Within a separate set of charges, it is alleged that on or about Feb. 5, she failed to comply with conditions of a release order that she not possess or consume alcohol or drugs not prescribed to her and that she not attend places where the primary purpose is the sale of alcohol or marijuana.
Additionally, she faces a charge that she failed to keep the peace and be of good behaviour, as required by a May 2024 probation order. As well, she faces a charge that she was in possession of a Ford pickup truck, knowing it was obtained by the commission of an indictable offence.
A January news release from police announcing the charges relating to the infant’s death stated that shortly before 6 a.m. on Aug. 16, 2023, officers were dispatched to a home on the 1900 block of Halifax Street in Regina, after it was reported that a child was not breathing. When officers arrived, they located the infant unresponsive on the floor.

“First aid was administered until EMS arrived, however the infant was pronounced deceased on scene a short time later,” the release noted.
It states that an extensive investigation was undertaken and eventually led to the woman’s arrest on Jan. 11 — nearly one year and five months after the incident.
The child cannot be identified in due to a publication ban.
When the woman last appeared in court, the Crown opposed her release and she was remanded into custody to await her next court date.
