Rob Lowe is cheering on his longtime friend Demi Moore as she continues to earn awards for her critically acclaimed portrayal in The Substance.

After taking home a Critics Choice Award last night and her first Golden Globe last month, the actress, 62, is currently favored to win the Best Actress Oscar next week for her role as Elisabeth Sparkle.

While accepting her latest trophy, she gushed that her recent success has felt like ‘such a wild ride.’

‘I can’t tell you when I started this journey on this film, I could never imagine being here,’ she said during her acceptance speech on Friday. ‘It’s so far beyond what I hoped for.’

Her former costar, Lowe, appeared alongside her in the films St. Elmo’s Fire and About Last Night, couldn’t help but sing her praises in a recent interview.

‘It’s really fun,’ the 9-1-1: Lone Star actor, 60, told People. ‘She really deserves it. She’s one of the rare things: she’s both a great actress and a true star.’

In December, the Unstable star introduced Moore at a special screening of The Substance.

‘About Last (Saturday) Night with @roblowe. An ’80s reunion to round out 2024 — thank you, Rob, for introducing our @trythesubstance screening! Grateful for the past, the present, and what’s yet to come ♥️’

Moore is the second of Lowe’s longtime friends to be recognized for their contributions to cinema.

‘I mean, last year, I got to go through this with my eighth-grade high school buddy, Robert Downey Jr., and now this year I’m getting to cheer on Demi,’ the 9-1-1: Lonestar said.

Downey was nominated for and won the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for his portrayal of former United States Atomic Energy Commission Chairman Lewis Strauss in Oppenheimer.

In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live Friday night, Lowe again spoke of his support for Moore’s success.

‘She’s so great in the substance and I’m so crossing my fingers that she wins.’

The actor also revealed that he and Moore were working on a St. Elmo’s 2.

Although Kimmel thought Lowe might joking he was serious. ‘We’re going to see what those people are doing at our ages now.’

‘When we did the original we were on the cover of Rolling Stone, now we’ll be on the cover of AARP, but it’s still going to be great.

Until then, fans can catch Lowe when season three of The Floor debuts on Sunday right after the Super Bowl.
